Web Design for Blackfalds Businesses

Blackfalds has been one of Alberta's fastest-growing communities for the better part of two decades, and a young, growing town produces a lot of new businesses — many of them without a website yet.

We're fifteen minutes south in Red Deer. We build first websites that don't cost a fortune and won't need replacing in eighteen months.

If you've never had a website before

Most of what we see in Blackfalds isn't an outdated site that needs rebuilding. It's a good business running entirely on a Facebook page, a phone number, and word of mouth — in a town growing fast enough that word of mouth can't keep up.

That works. Right up until it doesn't.

A Facebook page is not a website. It's rented ground. You don't control who sees your posts, the reach drops whenever the platform changes something, and it doesn't show up properly when someone searches for a plumber at 9pm.

Growing towns bring competitors from outside. When a town grows this fast, contractors from Red Deer, Lacombe, and Sylvan Lake start working here too — and many of them have proper websites. When a new family moves in and searches, the local business with no website loses to the out-of-town one that has one.

New residents don't know you. Blackfalds keeps filling with people who just moved here. They have no local network to ask, so they search. That search is the whole introduction.

You need to look established. If you started your business eighteen months ago, a clean professional website is the fastest way to close the credibility gap every new business has to fight through.

A straightforward first website

For a business that's never had one, we usually start smaller than you might expect:

  • A home page that says what you do and where you do it, with your phone number tappable at the top
  • A page for each service — this is what lets you show up in search, and it's the piece most people skip
  • A page about you, with a real photo — in a small town people hire the person as much as the business
  • Photos of actual work — yours, not stock. This matters more than the design does.
  • A contact page with a form that works and a number that dials
  • Help setting up your Google Business Profile — categories, service area, and hours matching the site exactly

That's it. Five or six pages, built well, structured for search, hosted in Canada, and maintained. You can add to it as the business grows, and it won't need throwing out to do so.

Trades, mostly

Blackfalds leans heavily to trades and construction — electricians, plumbers, HVAC, framing, concrete, landscaping, roofing, mobile mechanics. Trade websites have their own rules, and most of them get ignored:

  • Your phone number is the most important element on the page. Not the logo. Someone with a burst pipe is not reading your about section.
  • Your service area needs to be explicit. "Blackfalds, Red Deer, Lacombe and surrounding area" — written on the page and in the Google listing, matching exactly.
  • Photos of finished work outperform every other kind of content. A gallery of jobs you're proud of converts better than anything a copywriter can write about you.
  • Reviews carry the sale. Part of the site's job is simply making it easy for a happy customer to leave one.

We built A Couple of Painters in Red Deer along exactly these lines. The same principles apply here.

What it costs

We'll be direct, because new businesses need to know before they book a call.

A first website of the kind described above generally lands at the lower end of our $1,000 to $4,000 range to design and build, plus a hosting & care plan from $179/month covering hosting, security, updates, and support. Bigger builds cost more, and we'll say so before you commit.

There's no charge for the first conversation — and if we think you'd be better served spending that money elsewhere for another six months, we'll tell you.

Questions we hear a lot

We only have a Facebook page. Is that enough?

For a while, yes. It stops being enough when you want to show up in Google searches, control your own presence, or compete against businesses with a real site. If you're getting all the work you can handle from Facebook, don't let anyone rush you. When you want to grow past that, we'll talk.

How much does a website cost in Blackfalds?

A straightforward first site usually lands at the lower end of our $1,000 to $4,000 range, plus a hosting & care plan from $179/month. Fixed price, quoted before work starts.

How long does it take?

Two to four weeks for a small site — and most of that is waiting on your photos and service descriptions. If you have those ready, it goes faster.

Do we need to know anything technical?

No. We handle the domain, hosting, email setup, security, and updates. You get a login, we show you the handful of things you'll actually want to change, and everything else you can email us — small tweaks are part of the care plan, bigger changes get a quick quote first.

Can we add to it later?

Yes — it's standard WordPress, built to grow. Adding pages as you add services is normal and expected, not a rebuild; each addition is quoted as a small piece of work.

Do you build real estate websites?

Yes — REALTORS® are a specialty of ours. PropertyConnector is our own platform for Canadian agents, with live MLS® listings synced from CREA's DDF®, map search, and feature sheets, fully hosted and managed. Details and pricing are on the PropertyConnector site.

Do you work in Red Deer and Lacombe too?

Yes — Red Deer, Lacombe, and Sylvan Lake.
