Web Design for Sylvan Lake Businesses

Sylvan Lake runs on a different clock than the rest of Central Alberta. If a big share of your year happens between the May long weekend and Labour Day, your website has a job most websites don't.

We build sites that hold up when the town fills, and keep working when it empties. We're based in Red Deer, about twenty-five minutes away on Highway 11.

A website built for a ten-week window

Sylvan Lake draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer, and most of that lands in July and August. That concentration creates problems a normal small-business site never has to solve.

Your traffic graph is a cliff, not a line. A site that's comfortable in February can fall over on a hot Saturday in July. Cheap shared hosting is fine until the moment it isn't — and the moment it isn't is the moment you most need it working.

Almost all of it is mobile, outdoors, on cellular. Someone standing on Lakeshore Drive deciding where to eat, on a phone in bright sun, on a network shared with thousands of people doing the same thing. Every second your site takes to load is a decision going somewhere else.

They're not searching your name. They don't know your name. They're searching "boat rental Sylvan Lake," "breakfast Sylvan Lake," "mini golf near me." If you're not on that first screen, you don't exist to them.

Stale hours cost you money. Summer hours, shoulder-season hours, closed Tuesdays in October. When a visitor drives over and finds you shut because Google had the wrong hours, that's a lost customer and often a one-star review.

Half your business could be booked before they arrive. Rentals, charters, tee times, tours, tables. If booking means calling during business hours, you're losing the people who decided at 10pm the night before.

What we build for it

Hosting that handles the spike. Canadian servers behind Cloudflare's edge network, so most of your summer traffic is served from cache and never touches the origin. Your site stays fast on the busiest weekend of the year.

Genuinely fast on a phone. Compressed images, minimal scripts, tested on cellular — not on office wifi.

Online booking, if it fits your business. Rentals, appointments, tables, tours — set up so it works at 10pm from a campsite.

Seasonal hours handled properly. On the site — and we'll help you set them on your Google Business Profile too, with special hours in advance for long weekends and shoulder season. A small thing with an outsized effect.

Pages built for how visitors search. Not just a homepage with your name on it — real pages for the things people type when they're deciding where to spend an afternoon.

Something to do in the off-season. Gift certificates, next-season bookings, an email list you build in July and use in April. The site should earn something in the months the town is quiet.

Not everything in Sylvan Lake is seasonal

Worth saying, because the town is more than the beach. Sylvan Lake has a young, growing year-round population — trades, contractors, clinics, professional services, and home services serving residents who never set foot on the pier, many of them commuting to Red Deer.

Those businesses need a completely different website than a boat rental company does. If that's you, the Red Deer page is closer to what you'd want — and we work with year-round Sylvan Lake businesses all the same.

Send us your web address. We'll send back a short, plain-language review of what's working, what isn't, and what we'd fix first.

If you're a seasonal business, the best time to do this is October through March. Fixing a website in July is like renovating a restaurant during dinner service.

Questions we hear a lot

When should we rebuild our site?

Autumn or winter, without question. You want it launched, indexed, and settled well before the season starts — a site launched in June has no time to rank before the traffic arrives. October through February is ideal.

What does it cost?

Most small-business sites are $1,000 to $4,000 to build, plus a hosting & care plan from $179/month. Fixed price, quoted up front.

Can payment fit a seasonal cash flow?

Ask us. A business earning most of its revenue in ten weeks shouldn't be squeezed in February — paying the care plan annually during your busy season, instead of monthly through the winter, is usually the cleanest fit. We'd rather structure something sensible than lose a good client over timing.

Will our site handle a busy long weekend?

That's what the Cloudflare setup is for. Most of your traffic is served from a cached copy at the network edge rather than hitting the server — the same approach large sites use, and it's included, not an upgrade.

Can you set up online booking?

Yes. What we'd recommend depends on what you're booking — rentals, appointments, and restaurant tables all want different tools. We'd talk it through before committing to anything.

Do you build real estate websites?

Yes — that's a specialty. PropertyConnector is our own platform for Canadian REALTORS®, with live MLS® listings from CREA's DDF®, map search, and feature sheets, fully hosted and managed. Details and pricing are on the PropertyConnector site.

Do you work outside Sylvan Lake?

Across Central Alberta — Red Deer, Lacombe, Blackfalds, and beyond.
